Business Requirements
In a remote mountainous region, the local public operator signal coverage is insufficient, resulting in extremely low data speeds, poor voice quality, and frequent network disconnections or dropouts on mobile devices. These issues have significantly hindered local communication capabilities and degraded the overall network experience for users.

Solutions
To address these challenges, Vankom has deployed a private network in the area, supporting both LTE and 5G technologies. The private network features a converged core network integrating vkEPC, vk5GC, and vkIMS, complemented by 4G and 5G macro base stations. Additionally, mobile service centers have been established at multiple locations. Mobile devices within the network can seamlessly access both 4G and 5G services, enabling high-speed data connectivity and high-definition voice calls. To ensure reliability, a disaster recovery and backup solution has been implemented, allowing the network to quickly restore services in the event of any abnormalities.
The private network operator can efficiently configure and modify SIM card settings and tariff plans through the management system (vkBOSS). This system also enables the operator to monitor configuration details, operational status, and real-time alarm information for wireless network services. Furthermore, the NMS provides advanced tools such as signaling tracking and log analysis to accurately diagnose and resolve issues. A dedicated charging system has also been deployed, facilitating user account balance and data plan management, monthly billing operations, and the suspension or reactivation of user accounts.
Deployment Effects
The implementation of the integrated 4G/5G private network has significantly enhanced network coverage in the region, leading to a marked improvement in user experience. Mobile devices now achieve substantially higher data transfer rates, and voice call quality has improved dramatically. To date, the number of deployed base stations has steadily increased to over 60, and the number of subscribers has grown from 10,000 to 40,000.
Follow-up Cooperation
The operator has expressed high satisfaction with the current solution, as it has effectively resolved the region’s communication challenges. Moving forward, the operator is developing plans to further expand and optimize the network, including increasing the number of base stations and subscribers. Additionally, the operator intends to introduce a range of customized software services to enhance network functionality and meet the diverse communication needs of the local population.
